These are the things I do to avoid the things I should be doing..
Olivia Rose's photos were taken when she was four weeks old! Shes such a happy fairy baby! I cant get over those little toes! <3
I recently spent two weeks in Europe traveling to Copenhagen Denmark, Rome, Posatano Italy and Palermo Sicily and I didn't bring my camera... on purpose. Before I left on my trip lots of people were telling me "its a great photography opportunity!" and asking if I was going to bring my camera. Here was the problem.. I knew if I brought my camera I couldn't bring just one lens.. That also meant I would be lugging around a ton of camera equipment. If your anything like me, when I have my DSLR with me im taking tons of photos, and that's what I was afraid of. I recently watched a interview of a National Geographic photographer who talked about how photographers get so caught up taking photos they forget to make memories because they are constantly seeing the world threw a small camera lens. I didn't want that to happen to me.. so I ditched my large camera! But I couldn't go with absolutely no camera! I decided to invest in a GOPRO HERO 5. This camera is waterproof and fits in your pocket! I never had to worry about it getting wet and it took awesome photos, of course I had my phone too. In the end I still took a lot of photos but they were just snapshots, I wasn't focusing on taking the best shot with the best lighting. Now that the trips over im happy I left my camera home and still got some cool shots to look back on! But most importantly I have amazing memories. Here are my favorites! All shot on the GOPRO HERO 5 and an I phone 6s.

About a year ago I started to notice a lot of bullet journals on my Instagram and Pinterest feed. I liked the idea of mixing organization with art. As a high school art teacher I carry around a "lesson plan book" to all of my classes. This lesson plan book is actually a sketchbook filled with a bunch of doodles, notes, lists, ideas and occasionally an in depth drawing. After seeing all of these bullet journals I was inspired to try and organize my plan book for this school year. My favorite part was making the monthly headline. These are my favorites from the 2017-2018 school year.
This pencil drawing was from observation when I took my AP Photography class on a field trip to the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
This image consists of sketches I did when walking around the Chicago Art Institute. Instead of walking past all of my favorite pieces in the museum I decided to record.
As October arrived even my to do lists became creative... I probably had a lot to do and did this "to do" Ouija instead..
This drawing was started on March 14th during the 17 minutes the majority of my class walked out to protest gun violence.
Anya rescued Salsa last October. Salsa is a beautiful Arabian breed of horse. She was rescued with one other horse from a neglected barn in Illinois. Salsa and Guacamole were skin and bones when rescued . Salsa is now boarded at Woodstock Equestrian and working on her riding skills. Anya hopes that Salsa can one day be used as a trainer horse for beginning riders.
The Chicago River walk is located in downtown Chicago, sometimes referred to as Chicago's second lake front. The walk spans from lake shore drive to Lake Street. On top of being a prime location for a photo shoot, the river walk hosts restaurants in the summer as well as small parks to lounge and enjoy drinks! This Chicago couple picked the perfect winter day to capture the river walk backdrops.
Michelle and Kyle are expecting their first borb in June 2018! Millie can't wait to be a big sister! This mini shoot was captured at The Hallows in Cary Illinois.
I had so much fun editing this whimsical book photo! It gives off that childhood Christmas vibe we look forward to all year long! I cant wait to do another..
These dog parents are getting ready to tie the knot! This shoot was taken at golden hour with puppies Mia and Nala at Caldwell Woods in Chicago. There are so many good ones.. I cant pick my favorite!
The colors in fall photo shoots are my favorite! But.. sometimes you just wish it was snowing.. thankfully with some Photoshop magic.. Poof! Snow day has arrived!
Fall photo shoots are in full swing! With the last few leaves falling from the trees now is a perfect time to capture that rustic autumn look everyone loves! This family of 5 was photographed at Veterans Acres nature preserve in Crystal Lake Il.

Assateague island is a 37 mile long barrier island off the coast of Delmarva. Half the island is Maryland and the other half is Virginia. Assateague Island is a nation park offering campsites for visitors who want to stay the night. The most amazing part of Assateague are the 150 wild horses that roam the beaches and campsites. Horses travel in bands basking in the sun and living off the land. Images below are captured on an Iphone 6s, Kodak Cube and edited in Lightroom.
This weekend is Jaxon first birthday party! This shoot captured the first time he has ever tasted cake! He was hesitant at first, but once he tasted the frosting he was totally into it! I cant get over that baby bowler hat, and what a ham! Happy Birthday Jaxon!
